CD Projekt RED

A couple of days ago we woke up to the news that CD Projekt RED had been hacked and those responsible had appropriated both the source code of games such as Cyberpunk 2077 or The Witcher 3 , as well as other financial and personal data from the studio. Following the refusal of the Polish company to collaborate with the hackers, some of the stolen information has begun to leak into the network .

The first move of those responsible for this ransomware attack would have been to publish the source code of Gwent in a specialized forum (via Cybernews ) through a package hosted by Mega that has already been withdrawn. This package would have the name "CDProject Leak # 1", showing that there will be more leaks of this style soon.

According to a user of that forum who claims to have a link with the hackers responsible for the attack, today there will be a new leak about a new version of The Witcher 3 with RTX , Cyberpunk 2077 and Thronebreaker. It also ensures that part of the information is being auctioned in that same forum.

Ransomware attacks have become a common practice against large companies in the video game industry, the last to suffer major attacks were Nintendo and CapcomMeanwhile, the origin of the attack is still being investigated and it is suspected that it could come from within the company itself .
