Several weeks ago we told you that the rights to Astral Chain became Nintendo's , which surprised us a lot since the license was from the Platinum Games studio, but given the movement of Nintendo updating its website, it confirmed that. Now, after several days, it seems that one of the members of Platinum Games has wanted to clarify the issue and his responses are surprising.
Issue settled
In a recent interview with the VGC medium , studio head Atsushi Inaba made it quite clear who owns the Astral Chain game with some surprising and forceful words.
When asked about the removal of PlatinumGames from the copyright section, Inaba said "it is what it sounds like . " followed by "It is as written on the website: Astral Chain is your IP and as such there are limitations on how much we think we should talk . " He was also asked for further clarification on Inaba's comments regarding the ownership of Astral Chain IP and a PlatinumGames spokesperson said the company was "not in a position to answer this question."
Astral Chain was the directorial debut of NieR: automata designer Takahisa Taura. Hideki Kamiya, director of Bayonetta and Devil May Cry, was in charge of supervision. Since its release in August 2019, the game has sold over a million copies , making it one of the most successful original releases from Platinum.
