Battleborn is a game that perhaps came out at a bad time. The title was the new IP from the creators of Borderlands, who had parked the saga for a while to focus on this multiplayer game with a hero shooter approach that was born in the shadow of Overwatch. Somewhat unfortunate statements from Randy Pitchford - for a change - didn't help either, so the launch wasn't the most successful in the world. Later the game did not come back and in the end what had to happen has happened, Battleborn will close its servers in 2021 .
The game's official Twitter account has shared a heartfelt message announcing that as of February 24, 2020, Battleborn's activities will be limited, until their servers are shut down forever in January 2021.

On the game's official website they have given more details about the closure, resolving some issues:
At the moment, you will not see any effect if you have a copy of the game. But there are a few things you should be aware of:
- After February 24, 2020, you will no longer be able to purchase premium virtual currency ("Platinum") for use in the game.
- The game servers will remain active and the game will continue to play until January 2021.
- After the servers are disabled, Battleborn will no longer be playable.
