Mafia: The Old Country

IGN has shared its first impressions of the upcoming action game Mafia: The Old Country , a new installment in the Mafia series that takes players back to Sicily in the early 1900s. It's a prequel with a linear plot, like the first two installments, without the open world of Mafia 3. The main character, Enzo Favara, goes from a teenager who escaped from the sulfur mines to a member of the mafia family of Don Torrisi.

Along with mafiosi Luca and Cesare, he undertakes missions that involve intimidation, combat, or peaceful solutions. The primary weapon is a knife, with an emphasis on stealth, duels, and stealth kills. The combat system includes parries, dodges, and finishing moves, and knives can be upgraded.

Unreal Engine 5 makes Sicily look spectacular, with missions like photography, horse racing and vintage car driving. The story revolves around Enzo's love for Isabella, the Don's daughter, amid kidnappings, chases and shootouts.

One of the most striking missions is rescuing the son of a rival mafioso, where you can act stealthily or forcefully. The gameplay combines Splinter Cell-style stealth and classic third-person shooting.
