Onimusha: Way of the Sword

The Onimusha franchise has been around for 24 years, with the first installment coming out in 2001. Capcom recently announced a new game in the series, Onimusha: Way of the Sword , which is set to be released before the end of 2026. The creators of the project gave an interview to Famitsu and shared some details about the upcoming action game:

  • About the structure of the game world. The game will not have an open world, players will expect a classic system with levels.
  • About the connection with previous parts of the series. The developers specifically chose a new setting for the game so that more players could get acquainted with it, regardless of their knowledge of the previous parts of Onimusha. There will be no plot connection with the previous games of the series.
  • About the time to complete. Onimusha: Way of the Sword will be the longest in the franchise. According to the developers, they are currently aiming for a completion time of about 20 hours, but they will be able to name a more precise time closer to the release.

In Onimusha: Way of the Sword, players will have to confront the monsters of the underground world of Genma. The developers promise dynamic battles with an emphasis on close combat.
