Doom: The Dark Ages

id Software has revealed some surprising details about the future of Doom: The Dark Ages and the franchise as a whole. In a recent interview, the developers said that the game will not end with the Doom Slayer locked in a sarcophagus.

This decision was made intentionally to preserve the ability to tell new stories in the medieval setting. The developers also hinted at plans to expand the universe through additional content, similar to The Ancient Gods for Doom Eternal.

id Software is treating the medieval period of the Doom universe as a full chapter of the franchise rather than a one-off story. However, given the timeframes of modern game development, it could be a while before a potential sequel appears.

Doom: The Dark Ages is set to release on May 15th and will introduce players to a dark fantasy world where medieval technology mixes with demonic forces. It looks like this story will be the beginning of a new era for the cult franchise.
