Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

In a recent interview with Famitsu, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth producer Yoshinori Kitase and director Naoki Hamaguchi talked about the third part of the FFVII Remake trilogy and confirmed that the script is already finished. There is no word yet on when the final game will be released.

Hamaguchi said that the developers began working on FFVII Remake Part 3 immediately after the completion of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. By the end of 2024, the team had completed a build that confirmed what the final part of the FFVII Remake trilogy should focus on. The team already has an idea of the direction they want to go in, and they have been working on it since early 2025.

The story for Part 3 was already written shortly before Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's release on PS5, but elements of it still needed to be finalized. Kitase said he told Tetsuya Nomura that he wanted something for the script for Part 3 of FFVII Remake that would be respectful of the original Final Fantasy VII, but also provide a sense of satisfaction that could not be felt in the original game. Kitase added that this was achieved by the end of 2024, which is when Part 3's script was completed.
