RETURNAL

The speculations on the landing on PC of Returnal , currently exclusive to PlayStation 5, have followed over the months, relying now on this now on that clue from the pages of Steam. In particular, a project with the code name Oregon that appeared on the Valve platform a few months ago had made us think of the space roguelike of Housemarque , with some references that refer to places in the game.

An even less questionable new clue has arrived in the past few hours, given that the game title appeared in the path of a save data directory, only to be removed. The damage was done, however, with screenshots testifying to this new port from PlayStation 5 to PC.

Returnal would be yet another PlayStation exclusive to move to PC

However, it is not new that Sony is opening up to the PC world, with its main exclusives such as Uncharted , God of War , Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone that have successfully transitioned to the world of mouse and keyboard and with well-defined future plans for continue on the same path with other games. Jim Ryan himself has stated that by 2025 a large part of the PlayStation releases will concern the PC as the target platform.

As for Returnal, last month a video was leaked showing the game's settings menu in its PC version, a video later removed by Sony for copyright infringement, testifying that it was not a fake. Already last year, however, the leak of the games arriving on the Nvidia GeForce Now service included the Housemarque game, further confirming that it is only about knowing "when" and not "if" we will see Selene on PC.

Released on PlayStation 5 in April 2021, Returnal can be considered one of Sony's next-gen console launch games. Welcomed very positively by critics and users, net of some complaints related to the inability to save during a game arrived by those who were not very clear about the rules of a roguelike, the game has been able to carve out its own space in the hearts of PlayStation fans and proved the quality of the Housemarque team.

The studio was then acquired by Sony , joining the PlayStation Studios family , demonstrating the excellent collaboration born with the team and, consequently, the care taken in the creation of the game. The eventual landing on PC, now almost taken for granted, would give it new life and pay homage to the work of the developers by conquering a wider audience.
