DOOM: The Dark Ages players on Xbox can now download a new update that introduces significant balance adjustments , focusing on higher difficulty levels and improving several weapons. The patch, released on May 29, 2025, is the third major update in the last week.
These are the most notable tweaks id Software introduced in the latest update:
- Less lethal “behind” attacks : Fixed the frequency with which the player dies when taking unexpected hits at damage settings between 250% and 500%.
- Nerf to the Super Shotgun : It is now less effective against the Hell Knight and heavily armored enemies.
- Plasma Weapon Upgrade : Available ammo and reward for killing demons with Accelerator Heat Blast have been increased .
- Fixed Parry Rewards – Parrying Whiplash attacks now correctly grants the player the associated benefits.
In addition, the previous patches on May 23 and 22 introduced other adjustments:
- The Pulverizer cuts through the Hell Knight's arms with more difficulty.
- The Skullcrusher Devastator does less damage to bosses.
- Reduced the time it takes for health and armor to disappear in areas like Atlan or specific boss fights.
- Increased damage from enemies such as Agaddon Hunter , Cosmic Baron , Komodo , and Pink Rider .
- Adjustments to hidden systems that are forgiving when near death: they are now less generous , especially at high damage levels.
The team's intention is clear: to keep players on their toes, reward skill, and prevent brute force from becoming a viable solution on higher difficulties .
