miHoYo continues to terminate contracts with those who want to strike rather than work. The Chinese publisher and developer of hit gacha games has fired three more English voice actors for Zenless Zone Zero — Chelsea Kwok (Grace), Crystal Lee (Rina), and Katie Caufield (Kolyada) — just in time for the release of update 1.7, “The Past and Tears Will Turn to Dust.”
Their lines are re-recorded with new voices due to their refusal to work without a SAG-AFTRA Interim Agreement during a strike that began on July 26, 2024. Netacoustics are demanding protection from the use of AI to copy voices without consent and compensation.
Earlier in patch 1.6, Emery Chase (Soldier 11) and Nicholas Thurkettle (Lycaon) were replaced after learning about it from patch notes.
