Some users have spotted The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remaster in their game libraries on Boosteroid, a cloud service linked to Steam. The reports are part of a series of leaks hinting at the remaster's imminent release. Information about the project first appeared on the Virtuos studio's website, where supposed screenshots of the game were mistakenly published.
Bethesda has traditionally been tight-lipped about comment, with their Twitter support seemingly denying knowledge of the project. However, one fan who contacted Xbox support was told the remaster is real, supports cloud gaming, will be available on Xbox Game Pass, and is scheduled to release on April 21, 2025. The client will be approximately 120GB in size.
The final confirmation came from the Steam files, which can be viewed thanks to the SteamDB resource. The ID in question leads to an "Unknown Application", which is believed to be a remaster. According to the data, the application was added to Steam on September 26, 2023, and the last update was on April 17, 2025. Although there is a small chance that the release will happen tomorrow, April 22.
