CD Projekt RED has posted a job posting that appears to confirm that the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 will retain the first-person perspective, following a recent job posting on LinkedIn for a Senior Gameplay Animator .
The requirements for the candidate include a "demo reel with first-person animations of the models to create an immersive experience." This requirement assumes that Cyberpunk 2 (or whatever it's called) will also be a first-person game, or at least include first-person elements.
CD Projekt RED's decision to develop Cyberpunk 2077 in first-person after the third-person perspective of The Witcher trilogy was controversial at the time. However, with Cyberpunk 2077 and the Phantom Liberty expansion, the studio had already firmly established the franchise's core and identity, so its commitment to the style is unsurprising.
The new Cyberpunk game is in the early stages of development at CDPR's Boston office, led by Cyberpunk 2077 veterans. Another recent job posting hinted that the game is set to feature the most realistic and responsive crowd system in any game to date.
