The release date for Borderlands 4 from Gearbox studio has shifted from "before April 2026" to the 2025 calendar year.
While no exact date has been announced, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick hinted at an imminent announcement in an interview with Variety:
You will find out the release date very soon, and then everything will become clear.
Gearbox will likely reveal more details in the coming months, along with new gameplay footage.
Borderlands 4 will take place on a new planet, Kairos, the most dangerous and at the same time the most free to explore in the series. Players will have access to four new characters, local co-op with a split screen and "billions" of weapons and accessories. Although the game is not positioned as a full-fledged open world, the developers have implemented some sandbox elements, including seamless transitions between locations.
Borderlands 4 will be released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.
